Thrifty Thursdays

On more than one occasion, when I've told someone I frequent thrift shops, they give me the stink face, as if that's sooo beneath them! I just be like, pshhh, more for me!!

My mom put me on thrifting at an early age. Though, I will admit I didn't always like going but thanks to her, I have countless pieces (including designer labels like J.Crew, Dooney & Bourke, Ralph Lauren, etc) that were an absolute steal! So for all those people who turn their noses up at thrift stores, I hope this little glimpse into my closet shows you how fun thrifting can be!

Before we go any further let me make my disclaimer now: I am in no way, shape or form a professional or model in any realm of the fashion industry, I'm just a girl who likes to shop and share what I find! Plus I like to think I can dress pretty well =). The four outfits I styled are mostly thrift store finds and/or diy'd.

So this first dress is my latest find I bought from the goodwill here in downtown Savannah for all of $6. I usually go for cool, interesting prints in thrift stores and this one caught my eye plus it was the perfect fit so I had to snatch it up.

I found this hot little number, on a trip home with my mom at our favorite thrift store. I bought the purse on the same trip and together they only set me back $7 bucks!

Next is this vest, which was one of my first finds in college when I decided to revamp my wardrobe. It was originally a long sleeve button up but I didn't care for it as a shirt so I took it home, chopped off the sleeves, trimmed them in lace, added a lace bow in the back and voila!

Finally, this outfit is probably my favorite because I just love this shirt! I got this entire outfit as part from the goodwill. The shorts were pants but I cut them, hemmed them and made a belt with the scrap fabric. The top is actually a men's shirt and long enough to double as a dress, just add a belt and heels, I've even worn it with leggings and sandals, it's so versatile!

So anywho, hopefully this helped to shed a better light on thrift stores because they  are truly, real world treasure chests for EVERYTHING, not just clothes but I'll save that speech for another day. I also hope you guys enjoyed reading this at least half as much as I did doing my little "photoshoot" because I definitely plan to do it again with some fall and winter looks. Below are extra pictures and 'bloopers', if you will lol. Til next time ✌️
